What we deleted in June
Product

Most product updates are announcements. This one is a confession, with the actual usage numbers attached, because we think "we built this and it didn't work" is more useful to read than another feature launch post.
Custom dashboard themes
We shipped the ability to recolor your dashboard to match your brand. It took two weeks to build. In four months, 11 workspaces out of roughly 900 active ones ever changed the default theme, and six of those switched back within a week.
We removed it in June. The maintenance cost (keeping every chart legible against arbitrary color combinations) was not close to worth what 0.6% of workspaces used once.
Scheduled PDF exports
The idea was reasonable: automatically email a PDF snapshot of the dashboard every Monday. In practice, open rates on the generated PDFs were under 4%, far below the open rate on the plain-text weekly digest we already send. People wanted the number, not a document.
We kept the weekly digest. We removed the PDF generator.
A public status page for shared links
We built a small status indicator showing whether a shared analytics link was actively being viewed by someone else, similar to Google Docs' presence indicators. It required real-time infrastructure that added noticeable latency to link loading. Usage data showed almost nobody looked at it, and several people found it mildly unsettling to be watched while reading a chart.
Removed. Shared links now just load fast, with no presence tracking of any kind.
Why we're posting this
We'd rather be a small tool that does a few things reliably than a tool that keeps every feature it's ever shipped because removing something feels like admitting a mistake. It is admitting a mistake. We think that's fine.
